Nunda Township Open Space Referendum Passes, But the Bond Issue Fails

By a vote of 51.4%, the Nunda Township Open Space referendum passed.

The tally was 2106 to 1989.

The money part of it failed by 27 votes.

The bonds were rejected by a vote of 2,172 to 2,145, just over 50%.

I don’t live in Nunda Township and didn’t keep up with the campaign, but I note that the percentage the passing referendum received is almost identical to the 2001 McHenry County Conservation District referendum for $68.5 million.

  1. Folks, when you vote YES to a proposition involving the purchase of land for a cause you believe in, you should understand that you have to vote put your money where you mouth is and vote for the money part too. Otherwise, why vote? That’s just plain hypocrisy!

  2. Hi, Cal.

I’m back. Nunda’s asking for $15 megabucks now. I already sent my letter to NWH and DH on this garbage.

What’s happening? Who should I contact?
