The vote was 1,453 to 1,313 not to allow the Cary Park Board to sell land on Route 31 that is a prime commercial or office location.

The referendum was narrowly defeated with 52.5% voting against it.

The money–an estimate $16 million–would have been used to help finance a new recreation/community center, complete with indoor pool. More details about the proposal here.
