Cub Scout Rockets and Huntley School District Fireworks

Thursday night I shall be with my son while he is constructing a rocket with his Pack 158 Cub Scout den.

It’s a shame I won’t be able to see the fireworks that will be set off at the Huntley School District 158 Board.

The show starts at 6:30.

Newly sworn in board member Jim Carlin is apparently feeling his oats.

He put

Snow Removal and Landscape Contracts

on the agenda and that inspired a Northwest Herald article by Tom Musick.

Musick wrote,

District officials have had several public disputes with their landscaping and snow-removal company, Moore Turf Care, over the past school year…

Carlin said he was concerned that Moore Turf Care representatives were not as cooperative with district officials as they could be.

There was no mention of what seems to be a blood feud between ex-school board member, now $101,000 Chief Operating Officer Glen Stewart, and the owner of Moore Turf Care.

I guess Carlin is not one who thinks a school board should not micromanage.

The Daily Herald’s Jeff Gaunt also wrote a story that featuring Carlin.

It says Carlin wants to finish up the forensic audit.

And, it doesn’t sound like either Carlin or School Superintendent John Burkey want to collect any of the $211,000 that Huntley school administrators apparently took without board approval.

If they only recaptured half of that amount, they could pay for the forensic audit.
