Chicago Tribune Features Crystal Lake’s TicketsNow

Telling how Mike Domek started out with $100 and built his online ticket selling business to 1.2 million visitors a month, the Chicago Tribune reports that Domek is hiring Cheryl Rosner as CEO.

Rosneer has been president of both Hotels.com and Expedia Corporate Travel before Domek decided to step up to Chairman of the Board “to have a little more advice coming in,” as Eric Benderoff reported.

According to the graphic published by the Tribune, TicketsNow is number three in the market, behind StubHub.com and TicketLiquidator.com.

StubHub, with over twice TicketsNow’s volume was recently sold for $310 million to eBay.

Three months ago Chicago’s Adams Street Partners invested $34 million in the local firm, the Tribune reported.

Reporter Benderoff repeatedly refers to the business as “ticket scalping.”

Domek’s goal?

“The goal is to make TicketsNow No 1.”
