Rosemary Kurtz Passing “Save the Watershed” Petitions

PETITION
from
Concerned Citizens of Crystal Lake

is the heading on former State Rep. Rosemary Kurtz’ petition asking Mayor Aaron Shepley and the Crystal Lake city council “to DELAY for 6 months the Vote on the McHenry County College (MCC) (zoning) petition.”

The petition states,

“News of a proposal for construction of a classroom-gymnasium building AND construction of a Stadium (6500 persons) to be LEASED to a Minor League Baseball Team and to other vendors was just made public in May, 2007.

“We, the undersigned citizens, ask for this 6-month DELAY in order for us to give input to our officials so as to avert UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES of a quick decision to give MCC 50% coverage in the Watershed. Their 50% coverage will lead to other petitions to pave over the remaining thousand acres of the Watershed and to more flooding.

I’ve seen an accompanying petition for Lakewood residents. Although it will have little impact, the 400+ Lakewood homeowners living in Country Club Additions have as much at stake in preserving a clean lake as anyone. If you would like a copy, give me a call. My number is in the phone book.

For a Crystal Lake petition call Michelle Coss at 815-739-9772, 807 North Shore Drive, Crystal Lake. She will leave a petition on her porch for you to pick up and to return before September 17, 2007. The city council meeting is on September 19th.
