Correction: Baseball Stadium Will Only Provide 36% of MCC Addition

You think it’s my correction, don’t you?

In this case, it’s not.

When I saw Senior Crystal Lake Planner James Richter’s memo to the Crystal Lake Planning and Zoning Board, this sentence leaped off the page at me:

”The projected HWAC revenue is broken down as follows:

64% facilities, 36% outdoor stadium.”

I wrote “Flipped” in the margin, because the Northwest Herald reported that 64% of the money (of $35 million in all) would come from the baseball stadium.

After the meeting, I asked McHenry County College President Walt Packard about the difference.

“I misspoke,” he told me of his quote in the Northwest Herald.

So, instead of paying almost two-thirds of the project’s cost, the baseball stadium will only pay a little more than one-third.
