Hello Everyone,

You are probably aware of the proposal by MCC to build a sports complex on land that is in the watershed of Crystal Lake.

As I understand it, MCC’s proposal calls for a development with 50% impervious surface coverage where only 20% is currently allowed by the current Crystal Lake watershed protection document. Consequently, there is much concern for the impact this development will have on Crystal Lake, the Lake, as well as the usual concerns for traffic, flooding, etc.

The City Planning Commission voted unanimously AGAINST this proposal yet the college officials will now present the plan to the city council anyway.

For this reason, there will be an organizational meeting for those sharing these concerns. Please pass this on to anyone you know who is interested in protecting the watershed of Crystal Lake.
