Republican Central Committee Sets Cancels Reschedules Bylaws Meeting

Announced retiring McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Bill LeFew set an 8AM Saturday morning meeting at the Woodstock VFW to discuss bylaw changes.

That’s this Saturday morning.

Tomorrow.

But, at 10 PM Thursday night an email arrived at the homes and businesses of GOP precinct committeemen announcing the cancellation of Saturday’s meeting.

“The November 3rd meeting was rescheduled due to the large number of committeemen who were unable to attend due to work schedules and family commitments. We appreciate all those who called to let us know that they would unable to attend.”

That’s in parentheses.

It’s been rescheduled over a month a half from now—Tuesday, December 18.

That’s a week before Christmas.

Lot’s of things happening the week before Christmas.

I think that’s a night the Crystal Lake city council meets, so I guess Mayor Aaron Shepley, who is also secretary of the central committee, won’t be there to take notes.

The place is the same–the VFW–but this time it will be held at 6:30 PM.

I wonder if the media will be as welcome as it has been to organization meetings right after primary elections.

I figure the real reason for postponing the meeting is that Saturrday is right before Monday, 29th beginning of filing for office—including precinct committeeman—and ending the next Monday, November 5th.

If people got upset at a Saturday meeting, they might encourage friends to run for Republican precinct committeeman.

Better to have lots of vacancies and control the people who do run.

At least that has been LeFew’s strategy in the past.

If you want to help select who will replace LeFew as head of the McHenry County GOP, it’s not too late to get involved.

Anyone can run for Republican precinct committeeman.

All it takes are 10 petitions signatures, although I would suggest getting 20. More information can be found here:
