Message of the Day – Seaweed

Actually, this seaweed didn’t grow in the sea.

It grew in Crystal Lake.

When I took these photographs, it was November 3rd.

A crew of Crystal Lake Park District employees were using pitchforks to lift seaweed that had floated to the little dam at the southwest corner of Main Beach Park.

The men were tossing it into the shovel of a backhoe of an employee who obviously had more seniority than the men standing in the cold water in rubber boots.

Cress Creek was dry.

No, wait.

I see some water coming down the dry creek bed toward where I parked on Broadway near the culvert.

I can see the water’s reflection.

Removing the seaweed had again allowed water to flow down Cress Creek again.
