Maybe McHenry County College Could Look South

Tuesday’s Elgin Courier News reports that the City of Elgin is planning to broadcast its council meetings on the internet.

Citizens would have the option of watching the whole meeting or clicking on specific agenda items. The broadcasts would not be in real time, however. People would have to wait 1-3 hours after the meeting ends.

The set up charge is estimated at $16,000. A $760 monthly charge was also mentioned in the article.

Considering the McHenry County College Board doesn’t even tape record its meetings, I guess it’s too much to expect it to video them and broadcast them.

I wonder if this is how the system being put together by McHenry County Board member Tina Hill (R-Woodstock) will work.

Until the next election, when there probably will be opposition to those members who are most opposed to transparency.
