Randi Scheurer Criticizes Melissa Bean for Voting for Iraq War Money

The omnibus budget bill has passed and Democratic Party primary challenger to 8th district Congresswoman Melissa Bean points out in the press release below that Bean voted for the bill, which funds the Iraq War:

Bean Gives Bush Iraq War Blank Check

Rep. Melissa Bean (IL-8TH Democrat) caved again, joining all but one of the Republicans in giving the Bush administration another $70 B blank check for the Iraq war on Wednesday.

“Apparently, her (Bean’s) so-called ‘Pay-Go’ rule does not apply to funding war,” says Randi Scheurer, who is challenging Bean in the Democratic Party primary on February 5. (‘Pay-Go’ is a Congressional government-speak fantasy, which is supposed to offset all new spending with new taxes.)

“She refuses to give AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) tax relief to working families, but she is willing to flush the money down the toilet for an unwise, illegal war in Iraq,” says Scheurer. “Once again, this shows where her priorities are, with Bush and the Republican agenda.”

The House passed the budget-busting $555 spending bill in a 272-142 vote, with only 1 Republican against, giving the Bush administration and the Republicans in Congress all they wanted.

“At some point, Democrats have to wake up and see they were sold a false bill of goods,” says Scheurer. “Or, they can’t complain when voters start turning to other alternatives in the general election.”

Melissa Bean is in the photo on the top left. Finally got new pictures of Randi Scheurer at the 8th congressional district Republican debate at McHenry County College. She is on the right
