Marlene Lantz Called in “Angel of Death” Case

Last weekend, Democratic Party candidate for McHenry County Coroner Dave Bachmann asked some tough questions here and here about the role or lack thereof played by opponent incumbent Republican Coroner Marlene Lantz in the Woodstock Residence patient death cases.

The story of Chicago Tribune reporters Carolyn Starks and Jeff Long touched on the role of the McHenry County Coroner:

“Sam Amirante, the attorney for Marty Himebaugh, a licensed practical nurse who worked at the home, said the death certificates of the four residents in the indictment indicate they had natural deaths (saying) the next step…is to ask a judge to dismiss the indictment…

“State’s Atty. Louis Bianchi said Thursday that the death certificates are irrelevant to…’the charges that these two women were negligent in their care of the elderly.’”

Lantz was subpoenaed and appeared before Judge Joseph Condon.

When she spoke in court, she said, in what was described to me as an angry voice,

“The State’s Attorney’s office will not give me anything, nor will the Illinois State Police.”
