Crystal Laker John McCrory, the head of the John McCain for President effort in McHenry County, has sent out the following email:

Hey All:
 
On (Thursday) September 4th at 7:00 PM we will be holding a special event at Campaign Headquarters in Crystal Lake (on Route 14 across from Target).

“McCain Watch” is a national event that we will take part in. People all over the country will gather in houses and halls to watch John McCain’s acceptance speech. Our event is being sponsored by the Republican Party Central Committee and it’s a great way to kick off the campaign season.
 
We would like everyone to attend, and to make this a truly newsworthy event we would like you to bring family, neighbors and friends. It would create quite a buzz if Republicans were spilling out into the parking lot.
 
To help, I have attached two files that are both invitations to the event. (You can see that invitation below; click to enlarge.)

The last such party I remember attending was a McHenry County Young Republican one at Jack Schaffer’s parents’ Spring Beach Road home. Was it 1964? I do remember that it was fun.

And, yes, we had TV way back then.
