Northwest Herald "Rubes" Cartoon Cutback Roils Cartoon Readers

The Northwest Herald has decided to drop Rubes, one of its more popular cartoons.

The cartoon has no central character so it relies on the strength of its humor each day,” cartoonist Leigh Ruibin says. “For me that is the great challenge and the most fun. Rubes is populated with an ever changing cast of characters whose sole mission is to bring a smile each day to readers around the country.”

I looked at some http://www.creators.com/comics/rubes.html?comicname=rub of them and found I really related to this one.

It’s about a coin-operated machine.

I have called them “money grabbers” whenever my son asks for a coin.

And the answer is always,

“You know I don’t spend money on ‘money grabbers.’”

Cartoonist Leigh Rubin captures my feelings so well with this cartoon of a money grabber offering a big sucker, a sucker too big to get out of the machine.

The cut line is

“In time, Benny would learn to appreciate irony.”

Indeed.

So, what should you do if you want to try to change the minds of the decision-makers at the Northwest Herald?
