Second Wrongful Nursing Home “Angel of Death” Suit Filed Against Woodstock Residence, Staff

Wonder Lake residence Sharon Hunt has filed a wrongful death suit against the Woodstock Residence and some of its staff members.

She is the mother of John Sherman, who died at the Woodstock Residence two years ago while convalescing as a hospice patient with liver cancer.

Besides the nursing home, its parent company, LPN Marty Himebaugh, Register Nurse Penny Whitlock, nursing home administrator Alissa Nataupsky, Dr. Gurbax Saini, and Seasons Hospice have been sued.

Algonquin attorney Don Brewer is representing Hunt.

“While a resident of Woodstock Residence, JOHN SHERMAN was improperly and unlawfully administered medications including Morphine Sulfate and lapsed in and out of a non-responsive, state,”

the suit says.

A litany of charges of “abuse” and “neglect” are detailed.

This is the second such suit which has been filed. The first was filed by the daughter of Virginia Cole.

License Practical Nurse Marty Himebaugh is said

“On and prior to September 15, 2006 through September 18, 2006, during the period of JOHN SHERMAN’s residency at WOODSTOCK RESIDENCE, the Defendant, MARTY HIMEBAUGH, LPN, (to have) breached her duty and was guilty of one or more of the following negligent acts or omissions,”

which are listed. Most have to do with the administration of Morphine Sulfate.

Registered Nurse Penny Whitlock is similarly sued for failure to provide adequate oversight of the nursing home.
