No Indication Huntley School Board Will Meet with Teachers’ Union This Week

It does not appear that the Huntley District 158 School Board is going to meet with leaders of the Huntley teachers’ union this week, as requested.

The board has two committee meetings Thursday night, but union Co-Presidents Kim Aschenbach and Julie Hunter didn’t want to meet Thursday.

No matter, there is no secret meeting scheduled for either the Building or the Finance Committee meeting in which the contract could be discussed.

So it seems that the Huntley Education Association’s leaders’ efforts to re-open negotiations after its membership overwhelmingly approved the contract and after the school board also approved—without dissent—the contract have failed.

Anyone but I wonder when the teachers’ union leaders will sign the contract?

Or is another strike in the future for the Huntley School District?
