Bill Gentes Reveals a Bit of his Campaign

After, 26th district state senate candidate Bill Gentes got $75,000 dumped on him by two aspirants to replace Emil Jones as Illinois Senate President I emailed him asking him to tell me about his poll, if it wouldn’t hurt his campaign.

Below is his reply:

Cal

Being cagey here…

Well its shows some interesting things….mostly that its a 1% point race with a smaller then I would expect group of undecideds. If you recall Peterson won last time by 20 points, so an essentially dead even race gets some serious attention.

You can infer from Duffy’s very early mail and cable ads that he needs to make up the huge name recognition gap which was borne out by my poll, and I would assume his as well, hence the early mail tactic.

What is interesting is that my ground game has knocked on 28,452 doors since February, and as of yesterday I personally have hit 18,193 doors. The new Palm system talked about in Capitol Fax today allows us to gather plus and minus and yard signs and have instantaneous feedback on where we stand. To the best of my knowledge Duffy did little or no door knocking until after September, when I was already over 10,000 yes, and 1200 yard signs.

Bill
