Using Law Enforcement Data Base for Personal Reasons Illegal

So, have you ever wanted to know who owns a car?

Say, when a pretty woman is driving it.

Ask a policeman friend or, if you are in Springfield. someone who works for the Secretary of State’s Office to look it up.

What if you are a landlord and want to know if someone has a criminal record.

Just call your local law enforcement officer, right?

He/she can tap into Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS for short).

That might be the wrong thing to do, at least in Kane County, where Kane County State’s Attorney John Barsanti has just indicted Steven Cordes, according to a Tuesday (Elgin) Courier-News article written by Mike Bailey.

18 felony counts of official misconduct.

No one would misuse LEADS in McHenry County, would they?
