Celebrate with Me

McHenry County Blog hit new highs in readership this past week.

An average of 3,145 people per day took a look at this web site.

The daily averages are very dependent on weekend readership. If it’s a good weekend and people are out and about, the daily average is down and vice versa.

My guess is that lots of the stories about what candidates were doing during the last week could not be found anywhere else and that’s a shame for the candidates.

The role of newspapers in informing people about elections has been diminished. They still do the traditional interviews and that provides a valuable service, but the length of time most of the reporters have been in the area added to the very limited amount of space devoted to local politics means it is difficult for them to capture what is really going on in campaigns.

Maybe that explains why 5,061 came by on the day before the election, 4,894 on Election Day, 6,527 on the day after election and 5,493 on Thursday.
