MCC Faculty Compensation to Rise 5.75% a Year for Four Years

December 15th I quoted a McHenry County College report to its board of trustees saying,

“The agreement calls for an average increase in the base salary 2.76 percent over the course of the next five years.”

This week, the Five Year Financial Plan reports that “based upon contractual agreement” full-time faculty salaries and fringe benefits will increase 5.75% per year for the next four years.

What’s the difference?

It seems that the 5.75% “includes projected increases in insurance costs, step increases, and lane changes,” while the 2.75% didn’t.

Very interesting.

It allows MCC to remain competitive with surrounding colleges, Report #08-265 says.

I wonder when the last time was when someone left MCC to go to Elgin Community College, the College of DuPage or the College of Lake County, the ones used for comparison.

I also wonder why Harper and Rock Valley College were left out of the comparison. Both are easier to get to than DuPage.

Part-time faculty and administrators will get 3% salary hikes.

Salaries for “classified/professional” will go up 5.5% for the next two years, again, “based on contractual agreement.”
