The following statement has been received from Sean Smith. It announces his candidacy for the trustee of the Huntley Fire Protection District.

“As of January 19, 2009 I have officially announced my candidacy for the office of Huntley Fire Protection District Trustee.

“Instead of sitting on the sidelines and shouting from the bleachers, I have decided to take a front row seat and do my best to improve public safety in Huntley.

“The issues with the highest importance I intend to address are:

• improve 911 service,
• development of grants to fund equipment purchases,
• equitable distribution of impact fees and
• trustee / commissioner compensation.

“I am currently accepting invitations to meet with community groups and organizations to discuss my qualifications and concerns about public safety in Huntley.
