Grafton Township Residents Petition for Special Township Meeting to Stop Spending on $3.5 Million Township Building in Lake in the Hills

McHenry County Blog has obtained a petition containing 29 signatures of Grafton Township residents asking for a special meeting “to halt he construction of a township facility on Haligus Road in the Village of Lake in the Hills.”

I see one of the signatures is of Charles H. Sass, Huntley’s Village President.

The petition was circulated by Daniel G. Ziller.

The petition reads,

WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM ELECTORS

Per Illinois State State 60 ILCS 1/35-5 the electors of Grafton Township give notice that a special meeting is necessary for the interests of the township. The purpose of this meeting is to halt the construction of a township facility on Haligus Road in the Village of Lake in the Hills. By law, a minimum of fifteen signatures are required to exercise this power. The special meeting must be held no less than 14 nor more than 45 days after the written request is filed in the office of the township clerk. Special township meetings may not begin before 6 pm ILCS 1/35-5 and 30.
