Tribune Tying Ads into Article Content?

Observant folks will have noticed that Google’s ads tend to relate to the content of what one is reading.

Today the Chicago Tribune ran an article announced Rod Blagojevich-appointed U.S. Senator Rolland Burris would announce that he was not going to run for election in 2010.

Beneath the article was an ad for the Illinois Lottery.

Certainly it was Burris’ dream to become the first black governor of Illinois.

He didn’t “win the lottery” when he ran for that office.

When he got the chance, he settled for being the third black U.S. senator from Illinois.

Linking the ad showing a boat coming in with the article was probably by chance, but it was oddly appropriate.
