I sent an email to 8th District Congresswoman Melissa Bean’s office today asking if she would be having any town hall meeting about health care.
No reply yet, but I’ll keep you informed.
Bean is known as a leading “Blue Dog” Democrat.
Regardless of label, I would assume any member of Congress would be interested in finding out if he or she was in touch with constituents on such a contentious issue as health care reform.
I looked at Bean’s congressional web site and found a section listing recent appearances in McHenry County (as well as in the rest of her district).
The last one was over a year ago.
Oh come on Cal! You know if it doesn't have to do with Canadian trains meandering through the hoity-toity areas she "represents", she doesn't give a flip about the district. Oh and by the way, we in the 8th District should be thrilled to know that our Congresswoman is the largest recipient of insurance industry money this year – more than $61,000 (www.opensecrets.org). And ya'll wonder where she stands on the whole healthcare debate?
Interesting connection.
We'll see if "Follow the money" is good advice with regard to Bean's health care vote.
