Local officials have been informed that the Cary Post Office is closing.
Mail carriers will be working out of the Crystal Lake Post Office.
A retail presence will be maintained in Cary…at some strip mall would be my guess. Post office boxes will continue to be available. Whether it will be manned remains to be seen.
This local manifestation of the consolidation of facilities comes on the heels of the announcement that Saturday mail delivery will be discontinued.
As I explained previously, no Saturday mail delivery will benefit politicians wanting to get their message in front of voters right before the election.
