The name of the fund raiser is “Cop on the Roof,” but “Cop on Top” rhymes better. At any rate, if you stop in at Dunkin Donuts Friday, here’s why people in police uniforms are on its roof:
The Crystal Lake Police Department is proud to be a participant in the annual “Cop on the Roof” fundraiser for The Law Enforcement Torch Run to Benefit Special Olympics. On May 21, 2010 starting at 5 am, Crystal Lake Police Officers will be on the roof of the Dunkin Donuts located at 4817 Northwest Highway (U.S. Route 14 and Cog Circle), Crystal Lake. [This is next to the Shell Station next to Manor Road.]
The police officers will remain on the roof in a symbolic show of support for this charity event, while other police officers will be greeting customers and collecting donations to benefit Special Olympics of Illinois.
There will be Law Enforcement Torch Run t-shirts and baseball caps available for $15 each and the first fifty $10 donations will receive a free coffee mug.
Coupons for a free donut will also be provided courtesy of Dunkin Donuts for each donation made. Local radio station STAR 105.5 will be broadcasting the morning show from 5:00 am to 10 am during the event.
Please join hands with the Crystal Lake Police Department to support our Special Olympians.
