McHenry County State's Attorney Lou Bianchi

After almost a twelve-month investigation about the use of his office to advance his political career, McHenry County State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi has been indicted by Special Prosecutor Skip Tonigan.

You may read the entire indictment here.

I heard it on the radio on my way home from picking up my son.

In related news, the McHenry County Finance and Audit Committee is scheduled to pass a resolution paying Tonigan and consultants $74,306.69 at next Tuesday’s meeting.

Witnesses before the Grand Jury can be found here.

  1. Officeholders who are elected and not appointed are bound, despite their best intentions, to make an occasional error in having office and politics cross over. It will be interesting to see if Tonigan charged 75K over a stack of post-its or something egregious. Given the Nygren/Koehler/Jourdan/Look out for that train fraternization, I’m betting on post-its. I really wish the voters had the stones to make the changes this county needs. My grass is already brown, so I don’t have to worry about a sign from a Democrat killing my lawn. Koehler has to go, but given the lemming-like behavior of the voters, Father Time or too much red meat will get him before the voters do.

  2. Where were you two when Bianchi was bullying the whistleblower who had multiple felonies thrown at her over the same “post-its”?

This was inevitable from the day Bianchi sent a special prosecutor after the young woman who spoke up while saying this never happened. At the time I thought he should just come out and fess up and leave the girl alone. Instead he escalated it. It’s always the cover-up and the lies around it that end up getting you in trouble when it comes to “post-its”.

  3. I do not believe for one second that the other big-time politicians in McHenry County have not done many of the same acts. Will they be investigated?

  4. I agree with Richard. Stand them all in a line, give them a stone, and see who is the first to throw. Is it a sign or banner on a road with their name, a pen you can take with you from a county office titled with an official name on it, a brochure “compliments of ” explaining county or municipal govt.? These all campaign for the candidate in office currently. Look around….you will start to notice it is not just one to single out.

  5. What others have done or not done does not justify Lou Bianchi’s conduct whatsoever. I believed in him, supported him, and am disappointed by him. Lou needs to resign.

  6. They should all be investigated if they’ve done something illegal, and if found guilty, thrown in jail and out of office. What kind of a society to you want?

Integrity in government when the voters that hire our government officials cease being willing to accept less.

Thankfully, we have an Independent candidate for Judge, Sally Wiggins who belives in keeping politics out of the courtroom, and demonstrates her integrity by refusing to take campaign contributions from lawyers who might appear before her.

The question is, will the rest of us, support integrity when it is demonstrated for us?
