What’s Happening in Harvard

The Harvard Police use Nixle to tell residents of what is happening in town.

Local papers don’t have room to print the information. Using Nixle is a way to get the information directly from the Police Department. Harvard’s is the only one in the area I’m aware of doing this.

3010004796 Missing
       
On 09/03/10 at 0740 hrs, a m/16 yoa Harvard Youth was reported as missing. The Youth was subsequently located near Admiral Dr. and when told to stop by Officers refused and challenged the Officers. The Youth was arrested for Obstructing and transported to the police department. He was subsequently referred to McHenry County Court Services for Obstructing and McHenry County Youth Service Bureau.

3010004807 Theft
       
On 09-03-10 at 1545 hrs, Art Clemens (m/60 yoa) of 305 W. Blackman St. reported a bike was stolen from the front porch of his home sometime after midnight on 09-01-10.

3010004815 DUI

On 09-04-10 at 0034 Wenceslao Lara-Bernal (m/54 yoa) of 103 E. Sumner St. was arrested for DUI, Improper Turn Driving In Wrong lane, Suspended License, Aggravated DUI and Resisting A Peace Officer after he was observed driving erratically in the area of W. Brink St. and Marengo Rd. and resisting arresting officers. He was taken to the McHenry County jail in lieu of bond.

On 09-04-10 at 0345 hrs, Michael Hickey (m/29 yoa) of 620 County Line Rd. was arrested for DUI, No Insurance, Driving While Suspended, and Improper Lane use after he was observed driving in the area W. Brink St. Hickey was taken to the McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond.

3010004819 Consumption Alcohol

On 09-04-10 at 0934 hrs, a m/17 yoa Harvard Youth was arrested for unlawful consumption of alcohol after he was observed in the 300 blk. Of E. Thompson St. The Youth was cited under local ordinance and released to a parent.

3010004839 DUI

On 09-05-10 at 0055 hrs, Jose Contreras (m/29 yoa) of 81612 Hebron Rd. was arrested for DUI, DUI over .08, No Insurance, Driving While Suspended, Illegal Transportation Alcohol, Driving On Shoulder, Improper Lane Use and No Seat Belt after he was observed driving in the area Lawrence Rd. and Diggins St. He was released on $300.00 bond and issued a court date of 10-20-10 at 1330 hrs.

On 09-01-10 at 1211 hrs Barbara Cheek (f/62 yoa) of 716 University St reported someone accessed her checking account without her consent, earlier in the week.

3010004835 Theft

On 09-04-10 at 2328 hrs Victoria Wojciechowski (f/50 yoa) of 22020 Rte 173 reported she responded to the 100 blk of W Front St, for someone who had ordered food and failed to pay for it, pending.

On 09-07-10 at 1225 hrs Police responded to Lil Corner Store, 301 N Division St, for a theft of gasoline.

3010004912 Fraud/Scam

On 09-08-10 at 1915 hrs a Harvard Resident reported receiving an unsolicited mailing with a check and an award letter.  The letter explained the resident won a sweepstakes and directed the resident to cash the check and send monies overseas.  This is a money transfer scam and the Harvard Police Department encourages residents to safeguard their personal information and be suspicious of similar unsolicited mailings, emails and notices.

3010004435 Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On 08-12-10 at 1515 hrs Tammy Saucedo (f/53 yoa) of 813 Joanne Ln reported a GPS had been stolen from her 05 Chevrolet earlier in the year.

On 09-01-10 at 1541 hrs Police responded to 201 N Division St for a truck that had struck a playground partition and fled.

3010004904 Traffic Arrest
     
On 09-08-10 at 0520 hrs Raul I Carbajal-Guzman (m/19 yoa) of 207 Finney St #4 was arrested for No License, No Insurance, Speeding and Failure to Signal after he was observed near Heritage and Marengo Rds.  Guzman posted $100 bond and received a court date of 09-29-10 at 1330 hrs.

3010004905 Traffic/Warrant Arrest
       
On 09-08-10 at 0732 hrs Marcelino Huicochea (m/25 yoa) of 704 ½ W Brown St was arrested for Driving While Revoked, Speeding-School Zone, No Insurance, Failure to Signal, on a Kane County warrant for Failure to Appear on traffic charges and three McHenry County warrants two for Failure to Appear and the other for Petition to Revoke, all on traffic charges.  Huicochea was transported to the McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond.

On 09-09-10 at 0809 hrs Elia Nova (f/21 yoa) of 104 N Hart St was arrested for No License, No Insurance and Failure to Secure a Child-Child Seat after she was observed driving near Diggins and Division Sts.  Nova posted $100 bond and received a court date of 09-29-10 at 1330 hrs.

On 09-09-10 at 1118 hrs Melanie Robinson (f/53 yoa) of 703 W Metzen St reported a window on her 94 Chevrolet had been broken recently.

3010004946 Battery
       
On 09-10-10 at 0800 hrs a Harvard Youth (f/16 yoa) was arrested for Battery after pulling and scratching another student earlier, at 1103 N Jefferson St.  The youth was released to a parent and petitioned to Court Services.

3010004980 Curfew
       
On 09-11-10 at 0435 hrs two Harvard Youths (m/14 and m/16 yoa) were cited for Curfew after having been reported as runaways earlier in the night.  The Youths were released to a parent with a court date of 10-18-10 at 1330 hrs.

3010004974 Retail Theft
       
On 09-11-10 at 1820 hrs Police responded to Wal-Mart, 21101 McGuire Rd, for stolen electronics, under investigation.

3010004978 Suspicious Incident
       
On 09-11-10 at 2046 hrs Police responded to the 1700 blk of S Division St for a report of a suspicious subject who was believed to have been armed.  Officers, in conjunction with McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies, searched the surrounding area.  The subject in question was later located at another address in town.  After investigation, no charges were filed, it was determined that the subject was not armed and was carrying a wallet in the waistband of his pants.

On 09-12-10 at 0030 hrs Amy Jo Weseman (f/31 yoa) of 301 S Park Ave and Becky Schroeder (f/34 yoa) of 4701 Locust St. Delavan, WI. were cited for Fighting after a disturbance in the 100 blk of E. Front St.

3010004989 Counterfeit Currency
       
On 09-12-10 at 1434 hrs Harvard Police received a report from B.P. located at 501. S. Division St. of a counterfeit $10 bill they received earlier in the day. The bill bore serial number 1G52812497A. The Harvard Police would like to warn businesses of this activity.

On 09-13-10 at 0730 hrs Police responded to Harvard Chevrolet, 333 S Division St for a dark blue over cream colored 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe that had been stolen during the weekend, under investigation.

3010005006 Warrant Arrest
       
On 09-13-10 at 1853 hrs Benjamin Silva (m/20 yoa) of 1908 S 4th St, Rockford was arrested on a McHenry County warrant for Probation Violation on a Cannabis charge.  Silva was transported to the McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond.

On 09-15-10 at 1817 hrs, Nicholas Delbaccio (m/20 yoa) of 505 W. Burbank St. was arrested on a McHenry County warrant for Theft.  Delbaccio posted $100 bond and received a court date of 09-29-10 at 1330 hrs.

3010005044 Domestic Battery
       
On 09-16-10 at 1133 hrs, Russell Prejna (m/51 yoa) of 1313 6th St was arrested for Domestic Battery after grabbing and striking a household member with a mop handle.  Prejna was transported to the McHenry County Jail in lieu of bond.

On 09-18-10 at 2106 hrs, Police responded to the 200 blk of W Washington St. for a disturbance, under investigation.

3010005096 Warrant Arrest
       
On 09-18-10 at 2256 hrs, Antonio Figueroa (m/28 yoa) and Kelli Figueroa (f/28 yoa) both of 506 2nd St. were arrested on Boone County warrants for Failure to Appear on traffic charges.  Kelli Figueroa was also arrested on a McHenry County warrant for Failure to Appear on a traffic charge.  Antonio Figueroa posted $500 bond and received a court date of 10-15-10 at 0900 hrs, while Kelli Figueroa posted $800 on both warrants, receiving court dates of 10-15-10 at 1330 hrs and 09-22-10 at 1330 hrs on the Boone and McHenry County warrants, respectively.

Debit Card-Forgeries

     
From 09-17-10, Police have taken several reports from Harvard residents involving ATM Debit Card forgeries.  Various amounts of USC, usually several hundred dollars, have been withdrawn over the past few days, at several different locations along the West Coast.  The Harvard Police Department encourages all residents to be vigilant about their personal information and frequently check their financial records for discrepancies. We recommend that you change your PIN numbers on a regular basis.

3010005112 Telephone Harassment
       
On 09-19-10 at 2222 hrs David Bennefield (m/45 yoa) of 564 Timber Dr reported receiving a harassing call earlier in the night.
