Here is the Crystal Lake Police Department’s press release about a youth contemplating shooting classmates:

On Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010, at approximately 8:09 a.m., Crystal Lake Central High School staff received information that a student was contemplating a school shooting.

The subsequent investigation revealed the offender was a 19 year old student at Central High School by the name of Matthew Joshua Quinney, 582 Cress Creek Lane, Crystal Lake.

The Quinney subject allegedly sent an instant message (IM) to an acquaintance through a social networking site indicating that he was contemplating committing a school shooting and harming members of the student body.

Without delay, Members of the Crystal Lake Police Department met with the Quinney subject, interviewed him and took him into custody without incident.

The case was reviewed by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and Matthew Joshua Quinney was transported to the McHenry County Jail after being charged with one (1) count of Disorderly Conduct (Class C Misdemeanor).
