Message of the Day – A Tee Shirt

October 04, 2010 By: Cal Skinner Category: Cal Skinner, Ford, Greenfield Village, T-Shirt, Tee Shirt

As we were entering Henry Ford’s Greenfield Village this summer, I saw this T-shirt.

I couldn't find one of these to buy in Michigan.

Is says

Ford
Built without
your tax dollars

Why run it today?

I just read in Rasmussen Reports that

“Fifty-four percent (54%) of Americans say they are less likely to buy a GM car because the federal government is the automaker’s majority owner.

“Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they or someone they know has avoided buying a GM car because of the bailout and government takeover.”

We toured the Dearborn auto assembly plant in the River Rouge Complex and I saw one of the workers wearing this same tee shirt.

Unfortunately, visitors were no allowed to take photos of the assembly line.

Very frustrating for me, as you might imagine.

I toured a predecessor plant over 50 years ago. We were allowed to walk on the floor of the plant past the place where molten steel was poured.

As the laid off UAW woman who was on the catwalk to answer questions and employed at a much lower salary than she had been when she was on the line at another plant, “OHSA wouldn’t approve of that now.”

It was quite an experience for a teen in the mid-1950′s.  I remember it’s being just cavernous.  The ceilings were so high.

And of course, we now know that all those loans Ford took out for their credit line were at banks that essentially failed, and had to be backed up by the Fed, which is, if not tax dollars, then government guarantees of support, which which, for us working folk, a difference without a difference.
    So this shirt’s a lie.

    The latest news shows this.

This wasn’t TARP, or the Bail-Out, this is the Fed guaranteeing the loans of major banks, back when it was all collapsing. These docs have just been released by a lawsuit.
