Woman Batters Two Other Women in Crystal Lake Domestic Dispute

Domestic Battery – Fleeing and Eluding Arrest

On Monday, October 11th, 2010 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Crystal Lake Police responded to a fight in progress in the 200 block of Elmhurst Street.

As officers arrived, a participant was observed fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as Jasmine R. Bates, (18) of Lake in the Hills, IL, refused to yield or stop for officers, leading to a brief pursuit eastbound on Illinois Route 176.

The subject was taken into custody subsequent to a minor traffic crash which involved only the fleeing vehicle attempting to avoid striking vehicles stopped in traffic.

Upon investigation into the initial altercation, the matter was determined to be a domestic dispute, in which Bates had reportedly battered two other women in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Both victims were transported by ambulance to Northern Illinois Medical Center for evaluation and treatment, later to be released.

Jasmine Bates was charged with

  • Domestic Battery (4 counts),
  • Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer,
  • Improper Lane Usage,
  • Speeding (40+ miles per hour over the posted limit),
  • Improper Passing,
  • Driving off the Roadway,
  • Reckless Driving, and
  • Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

Bates was transported to the McHenry County Jail where she remains in custody on $2,500 cash bond with a court date of October 19, 2010.

Additional charges may be forthcoming upon a review of the incident by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

All subjects, although arrested and charged, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
