Message of the Day – A Doll

Click to enlarge this Barack Obama baby doll.

It all started with the flood at my wife’s childhood home.

The original Barbie Doll, complete with original box was tossed.

My sister-in-law started giving my wife dolls.

Did she feel guilty?

Don’t ask me to try to get inside an Italian woman’s mind.

In any event, we have what I call a “doll mausoleum” in the Skinner household.

And we get doll catalogs.

The latest from Ashton-Drake Galleries advertised what you see above.

Only $149.99. You can make five payments of $50 each.

Catalog number 03-01426-001. Call 1-800-346-2460.

  1. Do you think it will ever be worth anything?

Maybe some of your readers can help me with this question. there was a big hoop to do about the “Millenium Barbie” doll, she had a special velvet dress and a Millenium necklace and so forth..So for my girls I bought about 6 of them…

The dolls are still in the original boxes never been opened. The girls are all grown now and each have their doll.

Does anybody know if those dolls ever amounted to anything. As I recall, they were darn near impossible to find they sold out so quickly. My friend was a manager at a large store so I was able to get mine.

They are probably worth about the same amount as the bag of new beenie babies I have stashed in some house someplace around the world.

Thanks for any info on the dolls anybody might lend.

  2. This past summer, saw lots of $50. Obama 2009 collector plates at the dollar store for $ .99.

Goes to show you where the above ” lovable hope” is headed for its next marketing venue.

  3. Millenium Barbie is selling on ebay for between $10 and $20. Not even worth what people paid. Give it another 20 years and it may be worth something.

  4. I would imagine that the T-Shirts that say

    One
    Big
    As_ed
    Mistake
    America

would eventually sell as well as this doll and t-shirt, although they will be slightly more used.
