Bean and Husband Were Ineligible to Vote for Melissa Bean

In close elections you need every vote.

There is an irony how Melissa Bean broke her promise to move into the 8th District.

The promise was made six years ago. It’s interesting how liberal editors and journalists give liberal candidates a pass on such things.

Now she is missing her and her husband’s vote because they were ineligible to vote in the 8th Congressional District, not living in it.

Maybe if ACORN were still around, its operatives could have found 500 more votes in Cook County.

This McHenry Route 31 sign collapsed much as Melissa Bean's campaign imploded.

Maybe if the Bean campaign people had taken down more of Joe Walsh’s signs there would be a smaller vote difference.

I hope the names of the people who likely got paid plenty to run Bean’s campaign become public. If one is named Bob, for example, we could refer to him as Bunker Bob.

Members of leadership at the League of Women Voters have to be wondering how much their Pledge of Allegiance controversy helped Joe Walsh. In tight races swaying a couple of hundred of votes can be the difference.

Along with living in the district so you are eligible to vote.

It seemed a bit ridiculous for Bunker Bean to not go out and speak to public groups during a campaign.

I wonder how many Democrat operatives were brought in from outside the district to do what Bean herself didn’t want to do – meet voters face to face.

We’ll know at the end of Tuesday or Wednesday what the official vote totals were.

At that time we’ll learn if Bean should have paid more attention in class to the political science courses she took.

In time, we’ll see if a case study will be made of the “Bunker Bean” campaign.

If you were one of Bean’s political science instructors, it’s doubtful future classes will be told, “My student ran one of the worst campaigns in the country.”

“Vote for me because I can’t”

is never a helpful slogan per conventional wisdom.

If Bean campaigned publicly with this slogan instead of adopting the Bunker Bean strategy, she would likely be ahead.

At least people would have chuckled and given her credit for having a sense of humor.

Almost anything would have been better than Bunker Bean and hiding from the public’s questions.
