What follows is a statement from McHenry County College Board candidate Linda Liddell.

Key Campaign Messages

1. I will be a conduit for community engagement, promoting transparency while listening and responding to the taxpayers we serve.

2. I believe education counts. The power of education can change lives for the better and will bring necessary key resources needed to our community.

3. As a business person I will insure MCC is being efficient and purposeful in the way money is allocated and spent.

4. I will be an ambassador on behalf of MCC to the local community and government in efforts to raise awareness of this great institution while maximizing exposure to additional funding and/or grant opportunities.

Linda Liddell

“Linda Liddell is seeking a six-year term with McHenry County College Board of Trustees.

“Liddell has previously been involved with MCC as a community member for the MCC strategic planning and MAP community engagement sessions with the intent of gaining community insight for the three year strategic plan.

“In addition to supporting community activities sponsored at MCC, Liddell is a donor/contributor to Friends of MCC and has had two children attend classes on the Campus.

“Liddell is currently employed by Alcatel-Lucent, a company delivering solutions for voice, data and video communication services worldwide. She has supported channel, strategic account management and product management for the enterprise market throughout her 25 year career in the technology field.

“Liddell also served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant assigned to Natick Research and Development Command located outside of Boston, MA.

“Liddell grew up in South Dakota and received her BS degree from South Dakota State University, moved to Illinois in 1986 and has lived in Crystal Lake for 21 years. Her children attended Crystal Lake Central High School; Brad, 26, is currently in law school in Salt Lake City, Utah; Karissa, 23, is a Horticulture graduate with her sights on advanced international studies; Andrea, 21, finished Massage Therapy training and is pursuing national certification with continued studies towards an Elementary Education degree.

“Liddell serves on the Board of Directors for Hearthstone Community, a not for profit charitable organization located in Woodstock that provides care for more than 200 seniors through the senior living campus and for 150 children at the early learning center.

“Liddell is a member of the Rotary of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers organization that supports charities and service organizations providing needed services to people of all ages and walks of life. The Dawnbreakers’ raise over $80,000 annually, earmarking all funds toward serving others, both in the local community and worldwide.

“Liddell is a 2008 graduate of Leadership Greater McHenry County, a McHenry County-based organization devoted to developing knowledge and interest of local community members in contributing back to the community through learning and exposure to the educational, healthcare, political and non-profit organizations supporting McHenry County.”

Liddell supports many local organizations and fine art offerings in the community in addition to select national non-profit organizations. Liddell attends church in Crystal Lake and has interests in golf, biking, art, playing bridge, reading and travel.
