Crystal Lake Police Rapidly Solve Home Invasion

A press release from the Crystal Lake Police Department:

Three Subjects Arrested in Home Invasion

Evan M. Ledford

On Wednesday, March 30, 2011, Crystal Lake Police obtained arrest warrants for three subjects, stemming from an incident that occurred in the early morning hours at a residence in the 1100 block of Bennington Drive, Crystal Lake.

At approximately 3:13 AM, officers had been dispatched to the residential area for a report of a fight in progress, involving several individuals, whom were armed with baseball bats.

Participants were not immediately located, however a subsequent investigation revealed the specific home where the altercation had taken place, and led officers to a nearby hospital where three individuals had sought treatment for their injuries.

Michael J. Pilat

In this case, three subjects had entered a single family home without authority, intentionally to cause injury to an occupant.

It is alleged their actions were in retaliation for a previous fight in which one of the suspects had reportedly been battered by a guest at a party held at the home earlier.

After interviews with multiple witnesses, and a review of the matter with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, warrants for the alleged offenders were sought and obtained.

The following subjects were taken into custody through a cooperative effort between the Crystal Lake Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit.

Daniel H. Connelly

Each suspect was charged with

  • Home Invasion (class X felony),
  • Battery (class A misdemeanor),
  • Mob Action (class 4 felony), and
  • Criminal Trespass to Residence (class 4 felony):
  1. Evan M. Ledford (20) of 12213 Cooney Drive, Woodstock, IL
  2. Michael J. Pilat (19) of 3309 Pleasure Avenue, Wonder Lake, IL
  3. Daniel H. Connelly (19) of 144 Lawrence Avenue, Woodstock, IL

  1. This is bull. Completely misleading.

Way to twist your words to make three smart and genuinely nice young men look like violent criminals.
