Old Boyfriend Gets in Big Trouble in Crystal Lake

Subject Arrested – Domestic Violence

Abraham Silva

On Thursday, April 7th, 2011 at approximately 9:30 PM, Crystal Lake Police Officers responded to an apartment building in the 200 block of West Terra Cotta Avenue, Crystal Lake to a report of domestic violence.

Upon arrival, officers ascertained Abraham M. Silva (25) of unincorporated Crystal Lake had come uninvited to the apartment of a woman he previously shared a dating relationship with.

After being denied access, Silva allegedly forced entry to the apartment, battered the woman, and had stolen her cellular telephone.

Silva also reportedly battered another resident; a family member of the former girlfriend, who came to her aid.

The victim reported she fled the apartment, and was pursued outside where Silva again attacked her.

Silva fled the area on foot, and was able to elude the responding officers. Criminal complaints and a warrant were obtained.

On Friday, April 8th, 2011 at approximately 2:45 PM, Abraham Silva surrendered himself for arrest at the Crystal Lake Police Department.

Unable to post the required bond, Silva was transferred to the McHenry County Jail.

Silva was charged with the following offenses:

  • Home Invasion (class X Felony)
  • Criminal Trespass to Residence – (class 4 Felony)
  • Domestic Battery-(class 4 Felonies) – Two counts
  • Criminal Damage to Property – (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Theft – (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Battery -(Class A Misdemeanor)

Abraham Silva is scheduled to appear in court May 3rd, 2011 at the McHenry County Courthouse regarding these charges.
