Walsh: “I questioned the President. Now I am a target.”

President Barack Obama signaled his contempt for those who want the United States-Mexican border closed by joking that his opponents would not be satisfied until there was a moat filled with alligators. That would work, but there are probably cheaper means. These alligators are on display at Disney World's Animal Kingdom. Seeing them from a bus seems to satisfy visitors.

An email from Congressman Joe Walsh:

To My Walsh Warriors:

Last week, I wrote an open letter to the President urging him to take border security seriously.

Citizens living near the border are in constant fear of their lives, yet our President refuses to make border security a priority.

Instead, during a speech in El Paso President Obama accused some Americans of needing an ‘alligator filled moat along the southern border’. You can read my letter here.

Well Mr. President, if that’s what it takes to secure our border, then I am game.

I am fighting endlessly to make sure border security is a paramount issue.

I promise you I will not back down, but I need your help.

I am now a prime target for the Democrats and I am being attacked by liberal groups for questioning the President’s border policy.

It is crucial that I have your support now more than ever.  Show President Obama you want our borders protected.  Click here to show your support!

I am honored to represent you and promise I will not back down until our borders are secure.

Thank you,

Joe Walsh
Congressman IL 8th District

Walsh put up a YouTube video about the use of alligators.

Walsh: “I questioned the President. Now I am a target.” — 4 Comments

  1. First, it’s important to note that Joe Walsh wrote his letter AFTER the speech in El Paso, not before.

It’s funny how people like to say that Obama has done nothing about the illegal immigrants but yet he’s increased the number of border control agents since 2004 by 20,000 (that’s more than double), and his administration has increased deportation of illegals convicted of crimes by 70%. Also, other than 1916 when President Woodrow Wilson sent between 75,000 and 150,000 troops to respond to Pancho Villa launching a surprise attack crossing the U.S. border, there are more border patrol officers now than in U.S. history.

Funny how the Obama administration has done nothing about border security though.

So, since Joe Walsh wants the President “get serious” about border security, what is it that he is suggesting? And the next question would be how would he like to pay for it? I thought Republicans and Tea Partiers were all about cutting spending, not generating more.

“So, since Joe Walsh wants the President “get serious” about border security, what is it that he is suggesting? And the next question would be how would he like to pay for it?”

    The possibilities are endless!!

First, you can tax admission to watch “The WWW Gator Wrestling Mania,” then, tax the “Gator Skin Boots,” then tax the “Gator Belts,” the Mexicans aren’t going to be deterred by Gators and as long as they are coming into our country illegally anyway, lets give them the jobs of ‘skinning’ the Gators after the “Wrastl’n Match in the Moat!”

Of course, the ‘White Business Owners” will control the hiring and ‘background checks’ like they do now to make sure its all nice and legal like!

Until and Unless any President wakes up and puts our Military on OUR boarder to protect OUR citizens, its all just another “Moat Point!”

Just like you Mr. White guy who is hiring these illegals……until you stop it, you’re the cause and effect!

  3. If someone comes into the country illegally, they broke the law, and should be deported no matter how long they have been here.

  4. Mark,

Are there occasions where people are granted residence or citizenship because they entered illegally and stayed for a specific amount of time? I was not aware of this loophole.

Again, I ask, what is the solution? Is is a bigger fence, more border security? Or maybe we need to spend a lot more time, effort, and money cracking down on those who employ illegally. If there were no jobs for illegals, would they still come in the large numbers that they do? And how is the government going to pay for the additional measures taken at the border?

Why does Joe Walsh not think that the President is serious about border security when he has increased the number of border security agents to the most in U.S. history (other than President Wilson for a short period of time), and he has increased deportation? Is that not a serious improvement from previous administrations?
