McHenry County and Western Kane County are combined in a new district in which Congressman Joe Walsh lives.

Congressman Joe Walsh, who lives in McHenry, will have the opportunity to represent all of McHenry County, but Algonquin Township, plus Western Kane County under the new congressional map released by Illinois Democrats Friday morning.

Algonquin Township will be included in a new district that runs east to Ela Township in Lake County and Southeast into DuPage County. It will surround on three sides a new 8th District based in Schaumburg which is designed to favor a candidate from the Democratic Party.

The new 6th and 8th congressional districts put forth by Illinois Democrats.

I cannot identify an incumbent congressman in the 6th District, but both Joe Walsh and Randy Hultgren live in the newly reconstituted 14th District.

I’m uncertain whether Randy Hultgren is in the same district, but a large part of the Republican part of Kane County is.
