New Attorneys Join McHenry County State’s Attorney

STATE’S ATTORNEY HIRES EXPERIENCED LITIGATORS

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, is pleased to announce that Karen O’Brien has joined our office as an Assistant State’s Attorney in our Civil Division and Mary Ann Scholl has joined our office as a Misdemeanor Assistant in our Criminal Division.

  • Karen O’Brien is a seasoned litigator who graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago Illinois and from DePaul University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to joining the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Cook County and as a trial attorney for Patton & Ryan LLC handling complex civil litigation in both State and Federal Court. Most recently, Ms. O’Brien researched public policy issues relevant to Law and Economics and Searle Civil Justice Institute projects for Northwestern University School of Law and was in private practice as a sole practitioner.
  • Mary Ann Scholl is a graduate of the University of Illinois and The John Marshall Law School. Ms. Scholl served as a Special Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office prosecuting bench and jury trials for the Misdemeanor Division.
