Joe Walsh you are an economic terrorist, not to mention a lying, ignorant, hypocritical deadbeat dad as well. Its not a question of IF you policies are poisonous and destructive for all but the wealthiest Americans, its a question of how anyone could be stupid enough to think otherwise.
Well said Zach. If the next congressional election were held tomorrow I think you would see the teabaggers thrown out.
So, Zach and John, when the government runs out of rich folks to tax, to pay the interest on the ever rising deficit, who do you think they’ll tax next? Reminds me a bit of the old adage:
First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Of course, the United States is NOT Nazi Germany but I think the basic idea holds true. At the rate it’s going, the government will run out of rich folks to tax and who stand up for the poor and middle classes then? Last time I checked, the vast majority of elected officials are not from the poor and middle classes.
As the the deadbeat dad comment, I will leave it to the courts to decide if that’s the case instead of just jumping into the character assassination fray.
John, its funny how people “forget” to mention a few facts about those poor mistreated billionaires.
They forget to mention that
a) The taxes are the lowest they have been in a 1/2 century
b) The net income for the average American family has gone DOWN in the last thirty years
c) The ratio of average CEO pay to average worker pay has skyrocketed and a CEO makes 343 TIMES what a worker makes, an increase of 2,600% since 1980.
d) Not only did guys such as Rockefeller pay tax rates of up to 95% but they did so at a time when proportionately they had much less of the nation’s wealth, the top 1% of the wealth distribution controls HALF THE MONEY IN THE COUNTRY, yet they are somehow oppressed if someone suggests they pay more than 1/3 of people who ran the biggest business empires in history.
Perhaps now that Mr. Louis Bianchi has been totally exonerated in bench proceedings for a most unusual second time, justice will descend upon those most responsible for this abject misuse of taxpayer dollars.
Over a two-year period, this principled honest public servant has been the target of unscrupulous, sinister bottom-feeders dominating politics in McHenry County.
May the truth that has now vindicated a dedicated, virtuous man serve to expose the good-old-boy network underwritten by an agenda driven print & broadcast media.
In this case, the truth has indeed set us ALL free.
Zach – I never said anything that could be construed as “poor mistreated millionaires”.
My point was that unless government curbs spending, taxing the rich just won’t be enough.
The real issue I have is the politicians thinking they can spend all they want without consequences or, even sillier, spend their way out of debt.
Mr. Walsh is only one of 535 voting members of Congress. He doesn’t get to have “policies”. Now, the President does have “policies”. How constructive and beneficial have those of President Obama’s been, especially to the poor and middle class?
But thats just it now isn’t it, the Republicans have categorically REFUSED to consider anything other then mutilating the funding for necessary social programs and giving millionaires and billionaires tax cuts. Medically speaking they are dealing with a bleeding patient by refusing to give a transfusion and instead insisting on sawing off body parts until they stop dying.
When President Obama took office, he had a Democratic majority in Congress. Sorry, but you can’t blame the Republicans or the Tea Party for their lack of accomplishment.
The Tea Party candidates won as a response to the perception that the incumbent Democrats were not listening to the will of American people.
