Three Oaks Recreation Area Breaking Even on Operating Expenses

In response to a Freedom of Information request, the City of Crystal Lake has revealed that Vulcan Lakes broke even in Mary and June.

Revenues were $32,223, while operating expenses totaled $30,268.

This does not include repayment of the money borrowed, plus interest, to build the Three Oaks Recreation Area.

The City Council raised Crystal Lake’s share of the sales tax by 75%.

That was after creation of the Vulcan Lakes TIF District, which was touted as the source of the financing on the day it was passed.

Total attendance in May was 16,870.

The figure for June was 48,146.
