Lakewood Trustee Ken Santowski Wakens from Summer Siesta and Reports to Constituents – 1st August Meeting

Continued from yesterday.

The August meeting was mostly needed for another executive session so we could discuss what color a Smurf turns when he holds his breath (Yes, I stole that joke.)

Seriously we had some cleanup work to do regarding the language in the Lakewood Municipal Code book.

A young intern, who’s name escapes me, Brian Cwerenz, spent some time cleaning up the “as’s and wherefore’s” so things make sense.

I asked him if he was going to need therapy after spend numerous hours reading “lawyer language”.

He said no, he actually liked it.

We also talked about electrical aggregation.

Believe me; I even wondered what that was. It comes down to hopefully using the buying power of lets say the 900+ residents and 15+ businesses in Lakewood to buy electricity from a single source that will give us a better (and lower) price than those friendly ComEd guys.

On the first glance it looks like it could save all of us money, but there are risks.

Village staff will look further into it.

Remember in the 1st paragraph in Saturday’s article) I talked about the Market festival?

Well, we may have to postpone it.

The planned location for the Lakewood Market Festival.

Seems the committee is having some problems trying to lure the right mix of vendors to the festival.

Their intent is to make ours a little different than everyone else’s. Lets hope it does not have to be postponed

We broke up the meeting and went into ES (executive session).

Again I apologize for getting so far behind. I wish I had a great excuse, but I don’t.

Ken Santowski
