A Clue as to Why Local Republicans Were Mute on 88% Toll Tax Hike

Does it appear from the letter below that McHenry County officials were in favor of the Toll Tax Hike? Graphic by Taxpayers United of America.

I have been astonished at the silence from local Republican leaders about Pat Quinn’s 88% Toll Tax Hike.

Yesterday I got an email from the McHenry County Board.

Right at the top is a letter from McHenry County Board Chairman Ken Koehler about the “toll increase.”

Read it as tell me what you see.

Dear McHenry County Resident:

This week, the Illinois Tollway Authority approved a toll increase to offset the cost of a $12 billion capital plan. The rate increase is scheduled to be in effect January 1, 2012 and will bump the fee I-Pass users pay at mainline tolls from $0.40 to $0.75.

While a toll increase is never desirable, it will fund a capital plan that will have a positive impact on McHenry County (the most populous County in the United States without an exit directly onto an interstate).

The capital plan will fund construction projects that will put many hard working Illinois citizens back to work.

One of these projects funded by the capital plan is the construction of a full interchange at I-90/Rt. 47 in Huntley. The construction of east/west on and off ramps will spur economic development in McHenry County by allowing increased accessibility to all we have to offer!

Sincerely,

Kenneth D. Koehler, County Board Chairman

Well, what do you think?

A Clue as to Why Local Republicans Were Mute on 88% Toll Tax Hike — 4 Comments

  1. The Tollway Authority intentionally ‘witheld’ the exit from the get go.

Yet they gave McHenry County an “On” ramp as a tease you, thus allowing you access to keep on paying as you headed into Chicago.

For years and years the people of McHenry County were given a ‘dry hump’ by the Democratic controlled State Powers that be knowing that ‘one day’ they could ‘extort’ the citizen’s of McHenry County for the “Happy Ending” they are now finally receiving.

Punish the county because of its deep GOP roots. Then, let them wallow in their worthless Tollway Exchange for years, then, get the citizen’s so arroused that they finally became “Johns” for the “Pimps” that screwed them all these years.

Like dope addicts the foolish people all but begged for it!! (The Toll Increase) You should have seen yourselves during those ‘Extortion Settlement Meetings!!’

Well folks, ya got what ya begged for. Your Political “Pimps” slapped you around until you submitted!

Congratulations on getting screwed, hope it feels good everytime you tug on it….’Your wallet that is, as you reach into your pants to grab your extortion tokens.

Mr. Chairman, WHAT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT SIR?

I guess you forgot about the other “Pimping” you just took with the income tax hikes that is now forcing businesses to use that nice new “Exit” ramp that heads north to Wisconsin!

How much “Economic Development is going on in McHenry County, oh let’s say, Crystal Lake? Folks are just dying to pay the high sales tax rates there! How’s that working out for ya there in the CL?

At least when you had to drive back to McHenry County via Belvedere, you could stop at Cest La Vie health spa for a real “Happy Ending!”

Sorry if my comment has offended anybody, but hey, it is what it is….. You all just got F#&$@D…….but then again, I see another good Republican has been found in the ‘closet.’

This is why the GOP has been so quiet Mr. Skinner. They like to keep all their activities on the “DL,” if you know what that means??

Silence is usually an admission of “G-U-I-L-T”

  2. Chairman Neckbeard has to go, there is no doubt about that. You people need to wise up. Ellen Brady Mueller as the second person from the district looks better all the time, as the rear view mirror moves further from the last election. Glad I supported Kurtz.

Having said, Cal’s entry does not go far enough. Mike Tryon and Pam Althoff have to be the most ineffectual “leaders” in the county. What have they done? Nothing to distinguish themselves or help this county out. Tryon’s communicatons to his constituents are a lot of words that convey a whole lot of nothing. And Althoff is just a joke. I am hoping for primary challenges to both of them.

So it’s not just the county board and Chairman Ken and his real estate sweetheart deals (thank goodness the Ridgefield Metra location was shot down). In the case of McHenry County, a Tea Party (of which I am not a member nor likely will be) reviolution is just not enough.
