Nygren Wins Galt Airport Dispute in Federal Appellate Court

This Tuesday Chicago Tribune article reported criticism of Drew Peterson's attorney in a case in which he represented then-Galt Airport owner and now-McHenry County Board candidate Michael Stanard.

Never can tell where a story about McHenry County pops up.

Today in the Chicago Tribune in an article about Drew Peterson was a mention of Sheriff Keith Nygren having won a case brought by now-McHenry County Board candidate Michael Stanard from the days when he was part-owner of Galt Airport.

The article focuses on Stanard attorney Walter Malsym.

The former Greenwood Village President was displeased at Nygren’s

“forcing us to hire his deputies, telling us how many and at what hourly rate.  (More than double  the cost of private services.) He threatened to close Greenwood Road if we didn’t surrender to his demands.”

Although he lost in Federal Court and now in Appellate Court, Stanard said,

“We considered his threats to be a violation of the first amendment. . . freedom of press, speech and assembly. Still do.”

Stanard is running for McHenry County Board in the Republican Party primary in District 6.

  1. when you want to appeal something, go to “appellate” court, rather than apeallate (sic) court.

  2. Thanks to another citizen editor.

  4. While I don’t know what the court’s reasoning was here, I really hate the result that a government agency that you are compelled to use can squeeze you for money.

  5. Now I have read the brief … the County didn’t win, the appellate court threw out the appeal because it was poorly written, nice win?

I guess this all boils down to what winning is, and for that I can only reference Charlie Sheen.
