Zane Seipler’s 7-Pointed Star Exhibit Showing Its Campaign and Official Use

Below is the exhibit that Judge Thomas Meyer seemed uninterested in at Tuesday’s court hearing to consider whether a Special Prosecutor should be named to investigate whether McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren used taxpayer resources to advance his campaign interests.

Back on October 20, 2007, when then- McHenry County Republican Party Chairman Bill LeFew was trying to soften State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi up, the Northwest Herald reported that “Nygren said he would welcome an investigation, just to settle the allegations that had been leveled againstĀ  Bianchi’s office.”

“There is no other way to resolve this now, because the finger-pointing and allegations aren’t helping anyone,” Nygren is quoted.

Continuing,

“The only way the truth will come out is if there is an independent investigation by an outside, credible source that has jurisdiction.”

This ;part of the exhibit is entitled, "Keith Nygren Political Logo, 2005-2008."

This panel shows use of the 7-pointed star by the Sheriff's Department.

"Keith Nygren Campaign Literature, 2009-2010 " is the title of this part of the Exhibit.

Zane Seipler’s 7-Pointed Star Exhibit Showing Its Campaign and Official Use — 8 Comments

  1. Go to http://woodstockadvocate.blogspot.com/
Read article titled – Who welcomes an investigation? You can choose from several people. The answer KEITH NYGREN — it is from the NWH when they wanted to investigate Bianchi. Now Nygren is not so in love with an investigation when it is him.

  2. Sorry Zane and Gus, I just can’t reason how and why the depiction of something as benign and ambiguous as a depiction of a badge, star or emblem is tantamount to a felonious campaign violation…

Is the use of the badge supposed to lead sheeple to believe the sheriff’s campaign literature is somehow official documents of the sheriff’s office?!?!?

    Really?

What’s next, go after politicians who put the US Flag on pamphlets because it has a connotation that the candidate is backed by the Federal Government?

This is ridiculous and anyone who claims this situation bears more merit than some cursory look over by the IL State Board of Elections needs to honestly evaluate how much money has been thrown in the well over this and how much more is going to be wasted…Easy solution, vote for another candidate!

  3. really,

your friend, nygren seemed to think it was just fine when it was Bianchi being investigated for $400 for candy to give out with DARE pamphlets. Oct. 20, 2007, Norhtwest Herald –

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said he would welcome an investigation, just to settle the allegations that had been leveled against Bianchi’s office.

“The is no other way to resolve this now, because the finger-pointing and allegations aren’t helping anyone”, Nybren said.

“The only way the truth will come out is if there is an independent investigation by an outside, credible source that has jurisdiction.”
    Suck it up, Really

  4. It is ILLEGAL to use official emblems for campaign and ILLEGAL to use campaign logos on county property.

It cost a bundle for Nygren to remove the official and replace with campaign logos.

    WE PAID FOR IT.

He used his county office to promote his candidate Regna.

Who designed and made all of the decals??

Could it have been a Nygren contributor??

When Bianchi does county business it is on county stationery. When he is doing campaign business, it is on campaign stationery. Never mixed, always separate ant the campaign pieces are paid for by the campaign not our tax dollars.

  5. Diogenes- as I recall, the issue with Bianchi was that he paid employees to pass out candy he used office funds for, while campaigning.

Honestly, a gaffe and laspe in judgement, but nothing more became of it.

Neither Zane nor Gus has raised anything beyond the simple fact that Nygren used a 7 point star and, to illustrate the point, have shown the County decals next to his campaign literature.

Sorry, but the First Amendment trumps this silly logo debate.

The 7 point star is not property of the Sheriff’s Office and one can use it-or any other heptangonal for anything.

You have a penchant for taking issue A and running straight to point Z.

Can you prove who made the decals, who sponsored the decals?

Nice to thrust (costly) conspiracy theories, but you have just that, a theory-one that is not quite tangible nor worth the million dollar expenditure of another bogus political witch hunt.

BTW, I don’t even know Nygren, so your imflammatory insinuation that he is both my friend and the implied rationale behind my posting is off the mark and quite wrong…

  6. I am sure a day will come when it will all be made clear to those who do not understand. What he did is not legal.
Freedom of speech does not apply to using county money for campaigns.

If there was no problem with it all, why did Nygren stop the activity in the parades this year.

    Check out his donations .

If someone donated all of the decals, etc, then they would have to be shown on D-2 as in kind. I do not think you know much about political campaigns and what is allowed.

    All public record.

Look at Dorothy Brown in Cook County and taking donations from employees. She got in trouble.
Get your head out of the sand.

  7. To Really?

    Nothing more came of it?

How about tax dollars and time for public officials and so forth to come to the conclusion that “nothing more” need come of it?

    Seriously, really??

Give my regards to the Nygrens.

  8. Dio-quite a leap from paying to wear jeans to work and contributing to your bosses ‘birthday’ party to Nygren’s use of the 7 point star.

So, your tell me that, because the D-2 doesn’t reflect “7 point star decals” that it is somehow prima fascia evidence Nygren must have procured the decals from the County stockpile?

    Stop reaching.

Paul, ‘nothing came of it’ is a reflection that there were no substantiated charges-I implied the fact that money was thrown away.

Again, I see no need for imflammation, I do not know the Nygrens.

Is this your attempt at belittling my comments? or dismissing me because I don’t agree with you?

I make no apologies for being critical of what I see as a poorly justified and constructed conspiracy theory.
