Separating Government from Politics

Joe Walsh packed them in at his first Town Hall Meeting of the summer in Wauconda.

I received an email from Congressman Joe Walsh today announcing two Saturday Town Hall meetings, one in Huntley and one in Osewego.

But, I remembered another Town Hall meeting scheduled for Woodstock at the VFW after Thanksgiving.

When I looked, I saw it was also on Saturday.

So why wasn’t the Woodstock one listed on today’s email?

The announcement of the one at Woodstock’s VFW came as part of the Congressman’s weekly report from his official office.

The announcement of the one in Huntley and the one is Oswego came from his campaign.

I figure that’s because Woodstock is in Walsh’s current congressional district, while Huntley and Osewego are in the part of the district whose seat he seeks, but does not represent in Congress.

The consolidated schedule for Saturday is below:

Saturday, November 12th

10:30am – Noon
Oswego Town Hall Meeting
American Legion Hall
19 West Washington Street, Oswego

3:30pm – 4:30pm
Huntley Town Hall Meeting

Village Inn Restaurant
11713 East Main Street, Huntley

Saturday, November 26

3:00pm-4:30pm
Woodstock Town Hall Meeting

Woodstock VFW Post 5040
240 N. Throop Street, Woodstock

Society’s attempt to separate politics from government does seem a bit strained at times like this.
