Barb Wheeler Skating to Statehouse

Barb Wheeler at the Nunda Township Republican Picnic.

Let’s face it.

The district McHenry County Board member Barbara Wheeler is running in is a Republican one.

The filing deadline has passed and she didn’t draw an opponent.

I kept hearing of some guy from the northwest part of Lake County who was mounting a challenge, but Wheeler’s pre-filing campaign apparently intimidated him.

So, with a Republican primary opponent and no Democrat having filed, it’s a good bet that Barbara Wheeler will be representing McHenry and Lake County citizens in the Illinois General Assembly starting in January 2013.

  1. A former middle school teacher, current McHenry County Board member, for State Representative District 64 in Lake/McHenry counties.

Presumably she’ll have IEA and IFT teacher union support.

As a fiscal conservative it will be interesting to see how she votes on pension reform, which is our states #1 fiscal problem.

Counties have a lot different fiscal problems than states. Counties don’t have to worry about teacher pensions or funding schools.

County Board Members in a Republican County don’t have to work with Chicago Democrats Mike Madigan and John Cullerton.

    Good luck.

  2. Vote for Cliff Surges for State Senate.

His opponent has the ex chief of staff for Mark Kirk working for her. Pro choice. Pro spend and there will be no voice for McHenry Co. taxpayers.

McConughay is no conservative Cal Skinner. Just look very closely.
