Walsh Wraps Up Week

A email from Congressman Joe Walsh:

Walsh’s Weekly Wrap-Up

Dear Friend,

Joe Walsh read something at the beginning of his Thursday press conference announcing he will seek re-election in the reapportioned 8th District.

On Monday, December 12th, I will be holding a Small Business Committee Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access field hearing in Woodstock about what Washington can and should be doing to help small business grow, get access to capital, and create jobs. The subcommittee will hear testimony from four local businesses about how the federal government could promote a business climate that would actually foster entrepreneurship and small business job creation.

I will also be hosting a jobs fair on Tuesday, December 13th, in Gurnee. Dozens of companies with great job opportunities in many fields, have signed up to participate. This is a great opportunity to meet with a number of different employers including Northrup Grumman, Catalent, and Nosco. Both events are open to the public so please come out and join me! Find more information on the hearing and jobs fair below.

Rep. Walsh with Service Academy nominee, Chase Brinkley, at the Service Academy reception in Woodstock, IL.

This week, I announced the 8th Congressional District nominees to the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Military Academy, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. I nominated twenty eight young men and women for consideration to these prestigious academies. It is an accomplishment and an honor to be nominated to attend a service academy. I wish each of these fine students the best of luck as they continue with the next steps of the academy admission process. Click here to view the list of nominees.

While in Washington, I also introduced the Second Amendment Protection Act that would cut off all funding to the United Nations if the United States agrees to any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of American citizens. The United Nations has been trying for nearly a decade to move forward with the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The Arms Trade Treaty is bad for America and bad for U.S. gun rights. We must not let the United States get entangled in any agreement that threatens our sovereignty or our constitutional rights.

I hope you will be able to join me next week for the jobs fair in Gurnee and the jobs creation field hearing in Woodstock!

I work for you,

Joe Walsh
