Two McHenry County Ethics Commission Positions Open

The McHenry County Board has announced it is accepting applications from persons interested in appointment to the McHenry County Ethics Commission.

The terms of Scott Hartman and Tim Savage terms are expiring in February.

Application forms are available at the County Board Office, Room 209, McHenry County Government Center, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, IL 60098 (815-334-4221) or at the County’s website at http://www.co.mchenry.il.us/departments/countyboard/PDFDocs/AppointmentApp.pdf. Applications are due at the County Board office no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012. (If mailing your application, certified or registered mail is recommended. Mailed applications should be sent to the following address: McHenry County Board, 2200 North Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL 60098.)

Besides Hartmen and Savage, the current Commissioners are

  • Robert M. Martens
  • Cherie R. Ricket
  • Thomas B. Spencer

This could be an important entity.

Considering what Inspector Generals have done in state government, the indiscretions alleged about McHenry County State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi could have been handled administratively by the County’s Ethics Commission.

That might even be a place that 7-pointed star issues in the Sheriff’s Office could be considered.

    The State’s Attorney is exempted from our county ethics ordinance.

    We need to re-look this exemption.
