A press release from the Dave McSweeney campaign:

McSweeney Campaign to No Longer Pursue Rowe Objection

“After a discussion with Lake County Republican Chairman Bob Cook, I have made the decision to no longer pursue the objection to Danielle Rowe’s petitions.

“While the vast majority of our objections have been sustained during the preliminary review process, it is clear that the final outcome will be close if we continue to vigorously pursue the objections.

“Therefore, in the interest of time and minimizing legal fees, we will suspend any further activities on this case” said David McSweeney.”

Statement by Bob Cook

“I applaud the decision by the McSweeney campaign to no longer pursue the objection to the Rowe petitions. David McSweeney is doing the right thing and the electoral process should go forward. I think it is important for the voters to have an opportunity to select the best candidate.

“I also want this to be a clean, fair, and legal campaign.

“Therefore, since I’m also aware that Dan Proft, John Tillman, Pat Hughes and Matt Besler have been coordinating with the Rowe campaign, I call on them to not sponsor any independent expenditures in this race.

“I also call on the other candidates in the race to not coordinate with any independent expenditure efforts.”

“Candidates for office should run on the issues and they should focus on running above board campaigns,” said Bob Cook Lake County Republican Chairman.

Kent Gaffney

McSweeney continued, “My campaign is continuing to make solid progress in building grassroots support and raising money. We will have the necessary resources to continue to wage a successful campaign. My message of lower taxes, less spending and true reform is clearly resonating with the hard working residents of the 52nd District.”

The McSweeney Campaign is still actively pursuing its objections to Kent Gaffney’s petitions.

  1. Bob Cook 2 face? Sounds like Bob is suporting Danelle Rowe? Bob ate all his words! (Read above again). Hey Bob did you ask McSweeney to no longer pursue Kent Gaffney’s petitions??? I bet you didn’t. Bob what did you say, I call on them not to sponsor any independent expenditures in this race. its needs to be fair.
    JOKE

  2. Glad you’re staying on this story Warner. Great job.

The question on everyone’s mind is what’s going on in the Gaffney case? Will they prove our tax dollars were stolen? And like you’ve already asked, what did Tom Cross know and when did he know it?

Incompetent dweebs can’t even get their hack candidates on the ballot without stealing from us. It’s disgusting. If McSweeney’s objection helps put more crooks in jail he’s already done a huge service for the IL GOP.

  3. If McSweeney fails to prove his charges, he should withdraw. You cannot falsely accuse someone of criminal activity and not prove it. If he loses the objection, he should withdraw. No ifs, ands or buts.

  4. You are so angry Flounder, why is that? Seems like you obviously have a close connection to the McSweeney campaign which is great but the level lividity seems unhealthy.

Good for Danielle, she worked hard to get on the ballot, and with less resources than the other two. It will be interesting how much push back McSweeney will get from Tillman and others that he accused of wrongdoing that obviously were baseless accusations or we would have seen some action taken against them by the State Board of Elections.

  5. Goodman, you are showing your ignorance.

The accusations leveled against Tillman and others was for coordinating with the Rowe campaign for sponsoring independent expenditures for said campaign.

Bob Cook admitted in his statement that he was aware that they were doing just that!

Also, the State Board of Elections has no authority in that area, that authority resting with the IL Attorney General.

Since the McSweeney campaign has made the decision to withdraw their objection, the Attorney General will not pursue an investigation.

Just because an investigation is not conducted does NOT mean something illegal (or something that had the potential of being illegal) did not occur.

Bob Cook’s statement indicates that he was aware of potentially illegal activity.
